Shixie is experienced in design for science and engineering. Before IBM she was a fellow at Data Visualization for Scientific Discovery program at California Institute of Technology, where she worked on a mission design platform for the engineers at Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She currently leads the Virtual Reality exploration project for cloud computing at IBM. Shixie holds an MFA from Media Design Practices at ArtCenter College of Design, a BA in Physics from Brown and a BFA in Film, Animation and Video from the Rhode Island School of Design.
