The Design Management Office: Delivering the Value of Design at Scale

February 7, 2017 11:00 AM - 11:20 AM

As belief in design as a key differentiator has taken hold, large organizations have increasingly sought to drive innovation and continuous improvement by building in-house design capabilities. A new set of tools and processes are needed to equip this new generation of in-house design leaders, Design Managers, to create, grow and measure the impact of design within their large, complex organizations.

With input from Design Managers at large US organizations, we are developing a new blueprint for effective design management, the Design Management Office (DMO). Our goal is to develop this new model of design management and share it with our industry so that we can all deliver the value of design more consistently and convincingly.

In this presentation we will share our progress thus far, focusing on the three pillars of the DMO:

  • Influence through Process
  • Capacity through People
  • Impact through Measurement
